Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica
The Academia Sinica is Taiwan’s premier academic institution, with 24 research institutes and 7 research centers committed to research excellence. The Biodiversity Research Center, a leading research institute in Taiwan, aims to advance fundamental science and conservation biology to improve our understanding and awareness of biodiversity. The Center is gaining recognition in the international community for its excellence in biodiversity research and education. Building your career in the Center means being part of a team of renowned scientists and innovative leaders in the field of ecology and evolutionary biology. English is the working language at Academia Sinica.
The Symbiosis Genomics & Evolution Lab, recently established in the Center, is located in the Interdisciplinary Building on the Academia Sinica main campus. The Center has its own NGS High Throughput Genomics Core, which operates major sequencing platforms, including Illumina NextSeq 2000, PacBio Sequel, and Oxford Nanopore GridION. The Center also has access to several state-of-the-art confocal and electron microscopes in the same building or nearby institutes. The Center hosts its own Biodiversity Ph.D. program within the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP), which regularly attracts graduate students from around the world.
